Citadel Cadets William Singletary (also a Coast Guard Reservist) and Alexandra LaRiviere aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Dallas, 22 Feb 2012.

Six cadets in the Citadel Coast Guard Auxiliary Detachment joined the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Dallas on its last trip into port on February 22, 2012.  Members of the Detachment went to U.S. Coast Guard Station Charleston and were taken on a 41’ UTB ten miles off shore to meet the Cutter Dallas.  After climbing the Jacobs ladder on the side of the underway cutter, the cadets were welcomed onto the bridge to observe the steps necessary in steering, navigation, and communicating.  The opportunity to be underway with such an experienced and hardworking group of officers and enlisted men and women was truly a unique occasion.  The Citadel Detachment is very appreciative of Captain Munro and his crew for allowing us to observe them at work and learn from their experience.
